Abstract

Women’s empowerment is a key factor in improving the economy of fishing families in Pasia Nan Tigo Village, Padang City. The background to this research focuses on the significant role of women in supporting the household economy of fishermen, which often does not receive enough attention. The aim of this research is to analyze women’s contributions in various economic and social aspects, as well as their role in family decision making. The research method used is qualitative with a library research approach, including in-depth interviews and analysis of related literature. The research results show that women in this community not only play a role as household managers, but are also active in fishing activities, processing catches and marketing. Additionally, women also play a key role in children’s education and the overall well-being of the family. The contribution of this research is to provide a deeper understanding of the importance of empowering women in the fishing family economy, as well as suggesting policies that can support strengthening the role of women in fishing communities for sustainable economic development.
